I saw this video in my Classifiers (sign language) class at Berkeley tonight, and thought it was AWESOME! DEAF NINJA rocks! Even if you don't know sign language, you can pretty much get what's going on in this video. Basically, the scene is a bridge over water with a bunch of cars on it, and this jet transformer flies under the bridge, transforms and swings up on the bridge. Then he starts blasting away... til Deaf Ninja shows up!

Tonight Sam and I went to see The Dark Knight; in IMAX no less. Holy shit what an amazing movie. From start to finish it hooks you in. In fact,they don't even bother with opening credits. All the elements come together from the plot to the cinematography to the music to the script to the acting.
As we all know, this is Heath Ledger's last role and he is fucking brilliant. His rendition of the Joker scares the hell out of you because it's that "I -have-nothing-to-lose-I'm-in-this-to-just-wreck-havoc" type of insanity. His crazy is balanced with evil and a wry humor. The late actor's performance is balanced by his talented co-stars: Christian Bale (is the a role he cannot do? I even loved him in Reign of Fire); Aaron Eckhart (hot!); Morgan Freeman (the most prolific actor in Hollywood); Gary Oldman (my favorite - the Fifth Element) and Michael Caine (I loved him as that crazy, pot smoking, farting dude in Children of Men). Oh yeah, Jake's sister Maggie (the other Gyllenhal - so Heath screwed Jake in Brokeback and screwed-over Maggie in Dark Knight) reprised the role of Rachel. I wonder why Katie Holmes didn't do the sequel? Why don't you ask her husband, who is equally as creepy as ledger's Joker.
I won't repeat what every other geek livejournal and reviewer has said. The film delivers. Go see it. |

PETE DOHERTY TURNS DEAD CAT INTO A RING FOR KATE MOSS
In a case of reporting news, we’re not even sure we fully understand, rumor has it that troubled rocker Pete Doherty, who is rumored to be trying his darndest to win back the love and affections of former girlfriend Kate Moss, is set to turn his dead cat into a diamond ring for the supermodel. What’s that you say? You weren’t aware that dead cats could be turned into diamonds? As we said, we too aren’t fully sure that we understand.
At least Pete Doherty is smart enough to know he can’t go about the turning-cat-into-ring business on his own. Doherty has reportedly commissioned the ring from the US company LifeGem to help him trade in the ashes of the cat for something much more worthwhile.
The former female cat in question is Shelley, and according to The Daily Star, Shelley was Kate Moss’s favorite cat back when she and Pete Doherty were still living the unsavory life together. Now that Kate Moss is reported to be on the outs with boyfriend Jamie Hince of The Kills, Pete Doherty is apparently hoping that the gift will really do the trick in bringing Moss back around his way.
We guess Pete Doherty just isn’t the boombox-over-the-head kind of guy. But isn’t he a musician? Can’t he just sing her a song?
Kate is apparently on the outs with Hince because she feels he spends too much time with his bandmate Alison Mosshart. A source spoke to News of the World about Kate Moss- who is known for having a jealous temper- and her feelings on the matter. Said the source, “Kate was upset with Jamie because he often doesn’t pick up his phone when he’s with her. Kate shouted at him that he has a closeness with her that they don’t have."
If all goes as Doherty hopes, Kate Moss will soon be more concerned with her closeness to him- and poor Shelley, to care who Jamie Hince spends his time with.

New Line Styling Hairspray 2New Line Cinema has made a deal with "Hairspray" creator John Waters to write a treatment for a sequel to summer 2007's hit musical feature, reports Variety.
Planning to return are director/choreographer Adam Shankman, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and Tony-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who will write new songs for the film.
No cast has been engaged yet, and none of the stars of Hairspray had sequel options. But the studio hopes to reunite the original cast in a film that will be ready for release by Warner Bros. in mid-July 2010.
The first film starred John Travolta, Christopher Walken and Nikki Blonsky as well as Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden, Amanda Bynes, Elijah Kelley and Allison Janney.
Aim is to pick up the Baltimore saga of the Turnblad family after the resolution of the first film, which was set in 1962.

Taking advantage of the warm, sunny summer weather, Ashlee Simpson and a gal pal headed out for shopping and a coffee in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (July 23).
Showing off her growing baby bump, the "Outta My Head" singer and her friend dropped by American Apparel, browsing the store's selections before making a few purchases and heading off to grab a iced coffee.

July 23, 2008. DRAMA!!! MediaTakeOut.com is hearing that there is some serious beef brewing between Sean "Diddy" Combs and his group Day 26.
According to one of MediaTakeOut.com's snitches, Day 26 has confronted Diddy about not being properly paid for their recent tour. Word is that the group did a number of performances that they were paid nothing for. And that when they confronted Diddy - things got heated....
But it gets better. According to our snitch, the MTV cameras were there and they caught all the drama on tape. The snitch tells MediaTakeOut.com that the footage will be aired on the next season of Making The Band which airs next month.

 MTV is developing a remake of 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, reports Variety.
Lou Adler, executive producer of the original film, is partnering with BermanBraun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.
The new version will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.
The director and casting decisions have yet to be announced. The original starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf. SOURCE |

 Tim Burton and Walt Disney Pictures are in final talks with Australian actress Mia Wasikowska to star in Alice in Wonderland, Burton's take on Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy novel, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, based on a script by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King), will be produced by longtime Burton collaborator Richard Zanuck, former Disney chairman Joe Roth and Jennifer and Suzanne Todd. It will be shot with live-action and performance-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D.

So i picked up ny Amtrak ticket to Baltimore for friday. At leats they dont nickle and dime you, but the pricing is odd.
Saturday travel 53.00 one way
Friday travel from 92.00 to 146.00 one way
Car travel is about 100.00 round trip.
Airline i looked once, i just thought i want what they are smoking.
This trip has to be train as SIR and i are coming back to NY together. |

So, I only recently realized there's a full sized indoor lap pool right across the street from my apartment. I bought a pair of swim trunks and goggles and went for my first lap swim since high school, when I was on the swimming team (diving, actually). I spent 4 years in a pool and never wanted to reek of chlorine again. Now, the smell takes me back to happy times, on the diving board, soaring through the air, hanging out with my buddies on the swim team. Unfortunately, I could only go for about 20 mins...my neck was starting to act up again so I got out. I think I just need to stretch it more and swim more to get accustomed to movements I haven't made in 16 years. :-)

It is finally bed time and I have managed to sneak up to my room to go to bed. I am worn out.
My father does not stop talking. EVER.
I am know I am supposed to relish this time with him. That is really why I am here. But seriously....no time to do anything. I did manage to get my phone interview done. The guy said that he has an offer out to someone and he would rather hire me, but needs to see what happens there. I understand, timing and everything.
It is about as hot and humid as it can get here. It rains everyday and the ground is completely soaked with water. What on earth did the early settlers ever see in this place? Now at least I have A/C. Man I miss SF. Back on Wednesday and not a day too soon. |
